Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection (FIV) is a retrovirus related to the human AIDS virus. It is important to note that Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection does not produce disease in humans. The immune system of the cat is attacked and weakened by the virus making the cat more susceptible to other infections and diseases.
Symptoms of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection
Initially there may be no symptoms. As the disease progresses some cats may show signs that can include poor coat condition, fever, diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, enlarged lymph nodes, facial twitching, behavioral changes, seizures, glaucoma, cataracts, keratitis and susceptibility to secondary infections such as bacteria, virus, fungi and protozoan infections that are chronic and become worse over time.
Treatments for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection
Many of the secondary infections can be treated with antibacterial and antifungal medications in the initial stages of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection. As the disease progress these treatments may become less effective. Immunomodulatory drugs like interferon may ease symptoms. In the thrid stage of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection may require dietary supplementation and blood transfusions

My cat died two weeks ago he had hiv virus he suffered from
he died a few weeks after that and it has not been the same
since that but i keep thinking about him all the time here
he is the first cat who lived with me with was heathly
he will be sadly missed be me and my familt though. --------
