General information on Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis in cats is generally caused by the bovine bacilli. It is a rare disease which can infect cats that drink contaminated cow's milk or eat uncooked beef.
Symptoms of Tuberculosis
The most common symptoms of Tuberculosis in cats may include sores that drain, lumps that do not heal, swollen lymph nodes especially under the chin, coughing, difficulty breathing, weight loss and bloody sputum.
Treatments for Tuberculosis
Your vet may begin a treatment with an anti tuberculosis drug. The drug treatment consists of an initial phase that can last for two months. Once the initial phase has been completed, a continuing phase of drug treatment may begin that can last for up to nine months.
